What is Pay Per Click Advertising?

What is PPC or Pay Per Click advertising?
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past 8 years, Pay Per Click advertising or Adwords (google’s PPC brand) is a very powerful and cost effective way of getting your website listed on search engines, directories and content relative websites. It’s a very, very effective way of driving quality and relevant traffic to your website.

How does it work?
Quite simply, you sponsor a bunch of keywords or keyphrases that you expect your target audience to use in order to find you on the web. For example, if your business manufactures signage, you might sponsor phrases like “neon sign manufacturers” or “Acrylic Signs”. Anyone searching for a keyword/keyphrase that you sponsor will be presented with your ad appearing next to the search results – you don’t pay anything until they actually click on your ad, at which point you will pay anything up to the amount that you bid to sponsor that keyword. This amount can be anything from 10 cents to $20 although somewhere between $1-$2 is typical. You can set a daily limit so that your costs don’t run away from you.
