There are more than a few companies that will “guarantee to get you on the first page of Google”. But there’s a word of serious caution here. You should first ask two very important questions:
- Will they get your website blacklisted?
- What keywords will they get you listed under?
Will they get your website blacklisted?
Getting a website to appear in the first page of Google is not hard – anyone can do it with just a little bit of knowledge. However, as the old saying goes, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing – as are some SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) methods. There are a number of methods that can be used to improve your search engine ranking that are very effective in increasing your position within the search engines. The problem is that many of these methods are in breach and contravene the terms of service of the search engines and are known as “black hat” SEO or Spamdexing (indexing via spam techniques). Ultimately, these methods will eventually get your website blacklisted from the search engines and make no mistake – once you’re blacklisted – it’s hard (nearly impossible) to get back (listed)! This will hurt your business – so beware.
By stark contrast, iWorld Creative only employs methods considered to be ethical and within the guidelines set by the major search engines – otherwise known as “White Hat” SEO. Sure, these methods take a little longer and are a little harder to master but the results are often far more effective, much longer lasting and far more profitable for your business’s marketing strategy. So please, don’t be fooled – make sure that your SEO company doesn’t make any wild promises that seem too good to be true. Seek the services of an honest, ethical and experienced Search Engine Marketing specialist – like iWorld Creative.
What keywords will they get you listed under?
Imagine you’re trying to sell electronic goods such as MP3 players. Let’s be realistic – there are thousands of companies around the world all competing in an extremely competitive market – the chances of a small business achieving first page listing, worldwide on google for the term “MP3 Players” is remote to say the least. This is where your SEO company needs to think a little laterally with the choice of search terms or search phrases that they will optimise your site for. This also requires some hands on, roll up your sleeves kind of work – it’s not the sort of thing that can be achieved with a magic piece of software that does little more than tell you how well or poorly your website is performing for a given search term.
For $120 (AUD) per month, iWorld Creative will actively work the content and code of your site to improve its rankings and provide you with a detailed statistical report of your website’s progress and performance. Our Search Engine Marketing Specialists will also manually submit your website to the most popular search engines, RSS feeds and relevant directory listings. It’s a personalised, tailor made service for YOU that’s carried out by intelligent human beings – not spam bots!

What is PPC or Pay Per Click advertising?
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past 8 years, Pay Per Click advertising or Adwords (google’s PPC brand) is a very powerful and cost effective way of getting your website listed on search engines, directories and content relative websites. It’s a very, very effective way of driving quality and relevant traffic to your website.
How does it work?
Quite simply, you sponsor a bunch of keywords or keyphrases that you expect your target audience to use in order to find you on the web. For example, if your business manufactures signage, you might sponsor phrases like “neon sign manufacturers” or “Acrylic Signs”. Anyone searching for a keyword/keyphrase that you sponsor will be presented with your ad appearing next to the search results – you don’t pay anything until they actually click on your ad, at which point you will pay anything up to the amount that you bid to sponsor that keyword. This amount can be anything from 10 cents to $20 although somewhere between $1-$2 is typical. You can set a daily limit so that your costs don’t run away from you.
